This post is going to be a little different. It's going to be a depressing post because our teacher wants us to be sad and write about death. But since my topic is about The Weeknd, I couldn't think about who died in his life. Then it came to me. One of his inspirations had passed away a couple years ago. This artist was known and loved by everyone. In some of songs from The Weeknd, you can hear his voice is similar to Michael Jackson. The King of Pop influenced many, including The Weeknd. Michael Jackson was known for his incredible voice and amazing dance moves. The music industry lost an amazing pop singer on June 25, 2009.  The King of Pop died from cardiac arrest. Everyone mourned his loss. Years later, The Weeknd released a cover of Michael's song called Dirty Diana. When I first heard his cover, I actually thought it was Michael but it was slightly different. Now when you hear songs from The Weeknd, you can hear a Michael Jackson tone to his songs. He wants his fans to know that his songs are for us and if anything happened to him, it would be like a piece of us is gone and that's what Michael did to him. That's what Michael made him feel. The Weeknd is grabbing that side of him and putting it out to the world. The Weeknd said that since kids these days don't have artists like Michael, he wants to have that tone in his music. Hopefully, the next post is uplifting, not really but it's not depressing. RIP The King of Pop.

FAQ about The Weeknd

Since The Weeknd is my favorite singer, I know a lot of things about him. People ask a lot of questions about him and I mean A LOT. Once in a while, it gets so annoying when people ask the same question over and over again. They know the answer to it because I told them the answer but keep asking me. So I'm going to answer some of the FAQ.

- Is The Weeknd a band?
NO! The Weeknd is not a band. The Weeknd is a stage name for the most beautiful and talented human being named Abel Tesfaye.

- Why is there a missing E in his stage name?
There is a band in Canada called The Weekend and for copyright issues, he dropped the E and became The Weeknd.

- What and where is the House of Balloons?
After Abel dropped out of high school at 17, there was this house in Canada where him and his boys partied and lived. He wrote his mixtapes there and that's where he got his start. It's located in 65 Spencer Ave., Parkdale.

- ( This question is frequently asked) Why is his hair like that?
I think of it as it's his own way to express himself and it's called individuality. But really, there is no explanation and I guess it's personal prefrence.

- What does XOTWOD mean?
XOTWOD means  Ecstasy (x) and oxycodon (o) and TWOD mean till we overdose.
